The moment you pass the columns of the stately administration
building and pull into the landscaped parking area, one can’t
help but notice that a distinguishing aspect of Five Oaks
Academy is the
facility itself. The school is nestled on five acres of woods
and pasture near Simpsonville. The existing 100-year old farmhouse
has been fully renovated and now houses the school offices, library,
dining room, and our student's artwork. It also serves as a place to host regular events
such as teas, open houses, parent/teacher meetings, and more.
The adjoining carriage house has been converted into an art studio
and we have two 4000 square-foot buildings that house a total of
four classrooms between them. These
classrooms are state of the art with plenty of room for children,
supplies and activities.
The outdoor environment at Five Oaks
Academy is a natural extension of our learning in the classroom.
Learning begins the moment you enter the campus. Incorporated
into the overall design is a fountain, several flower
beds, a Labyrinth and a Zen garden. There is a brand new
professionally designed and built fenced-in playground that has
a range of play equipment. The playground is located adjacent to
a pasture that has been converted to be used as a soccer/play field.
There is a
half-mile nature trail that winds through the woods and along a
creek and half-way through has an outdoor classroom area. The master plan for
the facility includes an amphitheater and a children's garden and all features are slated
to be added in the years ahead.
