Annual Report

Dear Friends and Families of Five Oaks Academy,

Download 2015 FOAAF Annual Report

It was an honor to serve as the Five Oaks Academy Annual Fund Director for 2015-2016. As the campaign began, we reflected on a quote by Aristotle that stated “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.” I believe that this mindset not only exemplified the goal of the fundraiser, but guided each of our decisions to make Five Oaks our children’s academic home. As parents, we were not seeking a place of mediocrity, but one that encouraged excellence on all levels while nurturing the whole child. Five Oaks Academy is that place. However, tuition alone would not support the level of excellence seen every day at Five Oaks. Thus seven years ago, the Annual Fund was created to build a tradition of giving to complement the offerings of this incredible school beyond what tuition can provide.

Given that philanthropic support is a reality for all independent schools, I asked each of you to make a decision to make a difference at FOA. Our goal was ambitious, yet achieved. Together, we raised $100,136! What a milestone! It was especially inspiring that almost all of our fundraising was done by faculty, staff, and FOA families. Our staff, once again, established a level of commitment at the 100% giving level for the seventh year in a row. That level of support from faculty and staff is unheard of at any other school that I examined while preparing for the campaign proving, yet again, the extraordinary environment at Five Oaks Academy.

As a community, almost eight out of ten of our families made a gift to the Annual Fund. As Director, the level of support offered by our community was humbling. Together, we made a difference!

Because of your generosity, one key initiative that the Annual Fund supported last year was to enhance the STEM curriculum. This was realized by the installation of a WeatherBug Weather Station on our campus. Not only is the WeatherBug station a valuable informational and security resource to our staff and community, the STEM curriculum courses offered for every age group provides the tools needed for success today and tomorrow.

Thank you again for your commitment to Five Oaks, our students, and for your role in the 2015-2016 campaign. I look forward to the upcoming campaign and am confident that together we will continue to reach new levels of excellence because of the generosity of such an incredible community.

With sincere appreciation of your continued support,

Tracy McKinney
