In choosing Five Oaks Academy, you are choosing a school that considers collaboration an essential element to the development of your child’s education. We ask that parents consider this school as a partnership of faculty, parents, and students. Children thrive when both the home and school environment work in harmony and share the same educational values and expectations. Children develop a love of learning and become responsible, independent, and capable when parents’ values and expectations are consistent with those of the school and are reinforced on a consistent basis at home.
We ask that parents participate in our program in any way that may enhance our studies. We have countless opportunities for collaboration as we explore world studies in all curricular areas. We also depend on parents for support with projects, field trips, gardening, and community service. We invite and encourage parents to share their talents, insights, strengths, and hobbies with our children as guest speakers and presenters.
Five Oaks Academy gives parents a copy of “Tomorrow’s Child” Magazine (A Montessori journal produced by the International Montessori Council (IMC)) and sponsors educational seminars throughout the year; these give parents the opportunity to continue their growth in order to support their children and to educate themselves on Montessori philosophy. Each year we have well known speakers as well as faculty deliver seminars as a part of our Parent Lecture Series.
The Annual Fund and the PTO provide additional opportunities for parents to be involved year round.
