8th Grade Graduates Trip to Tennessee

Our Middle School 8th grade trip is chosen, planned, and budgeted by the graduates. This year they chose Pigeon Forge, TN where the highlights were ziplining and spending the day at Dollywood.  Ms. Valerie and Ms. Susan chaperoned the trip and Ms. Kathleen had a great time attending as an emergency Administrator.

Annual Fund Update and Campaign Information

As we celebrate our 20th year at Five Oaks Academy our goal is $200,000.  To date, we have raised a record-breaking $180,470.00!

Here are the highlights of what has created our amazing 2022-2023 total:

Thank you to our community (families and employees) because through your donations we have raised $101,679.23!

Thank you to our students who, during Raise Craze and the March Madness Coin Challenge raised a combined total of $20,980.78!

Thank you to our first-ever FOA Golf Tournament (and organizers Andy Schroeder, Adam Staley, and David Stearns) for raising $23,287.00!

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Fall Fete (Live, Silent, and Online auctions) for raising $34,523.00!

We never would have raised this much if it wasn’t for this community’s unwavering support and continued dedication to our school!  Thank you!

5th Grade Trip to Barrier Island

Barrier Island was a wonderful opportunity for our Upper Elementary students to learn about the coastal region of our great state. The students participated in activities such as seining, team building field games, stories around a campfire, a dance party, and an up close and personal observation of some of the living creatures found on the South Carolina coastline.

Lower Elementary Third Grade Trip

The third graders had a blast at Mountain Trail Outdoor School!  Mountain Trail Outdoor School is an environmental and adventure education program of Kanuga Conferences, Inc. which uses an experiential education model to teach environmental awareness and to promote self-confidence in students.  MTOS has been in operation for over 30 years! The students had a great time exploring, learning, and spending this special time together.

Jean Wilson Freeman Mural and Reception

Last October, Five Oaks Academy welcomed guest artist, Jean Wilson Freeman, to collaborate with students on a campus mural celebrating nature. Ms. Freeman was a part of the Stone Avenue mural project in Greenville, creating a large-scale mural with the Stone Academy students at 217 E. Stone Avenue. As an active member of the local art community, Ms. Freeman hosts pop-up art markets showcasing her work.

After Ms. Freeman completed an initial sketch on the wall, the Upper Elementary and Middle School students were able to work alongside her over the course of three days to add vibrant paint colors to the mural. As small groups rotated to assist Ms. Freeman with painting, students who were not painting on the wall worked on portable easels in the courtyard and found inspiration in the mural and in the natural environment. The new mural combines FOA’s love of nature & commitment to fostering creativity in students.
